Ownership

In 1998, long-time employee John Hayes purchased the store from the Goodman Brothers and remains the owner. The business is independently owned by a Madison resident, though not originally from Madison's founding.

Local Sourcing

The store sources diamonds from Hearts on Fire, South African Diamonds and Ideal2/Canadian Rocks, and features watches from CYMA, Tavannes, Swiss Army, Citizen Signature Collection, Seiko and Pulsar. Products appear to be primarily from national/international suppliers rather than local sources.

Community Involvement

For more than 80 years, the Goodmans' name has been synonymous with community and philanthropy. The store's founders gave generously to the community, and the current owner John Hayes has maintained this commitment to the community, continuing to support many nonprofit organizations and charity fundraising. The Monday Batteries program has raised over $12,000 in four years for Jewelers for Children.

Staff member Kristin has been with Goodman's for a number of years and joined the team about 10 years ago, noting "Goodman's just feels like home". The store does not work on commission, and reviews consistently praise knowledgeable, professional staff with strong customer service ratings.
